project: cathedral ranges resort landscape masterplan and visual impact assessment

client: golf club properties limited

description of project
hansen have played an integral role in the masterplanning of a world class golf resort on a 380 hectare site on the Acheron River, with an outlook to the Cathedral Ranges, at Taggerty in the Shire of Murrindindi.

The proposed development incorporates a world class 18 hole championship golf course, a five star resort hotel, 180 residential lots, winery, golf lodges, golf apartments, an aboriginal interpretive facility and an education facility.

hansen´s design team worked closely with the project architects and environmental consultants to develop a comprehensive landscape masterplan for the site which would serve as an integrating ´overlay´, effectively drawing together the various elements of the development and linking them through the establishment of a common landscape character. The primary focus of this landscape character is in celebrating the special attributes of the place, including the existing forested hills, extensive wetland areas, the Acheron River corridor, outstanding River Redgum woodlands and the panoramic views to the Cathedral Range.

hansen´s design team also developed a series of photomontage images of the proposed development from a series of critical vantage points, including the peak of the Cathedral Range and the important tourist route along the Maroondah Highway.

hansen´s urban planning team coordinated the planning application process and managed a large team of specialist consultants, covering such varied disciplines as wetland management, agricultural economics, archaeology, traffic and ecology.
