Hanoi City as the National Capital of Vietnam is undergoing substantial development and urban growth commensurate with the processes of globalisation and operating under a free market economy. hansen provided the Team Leader as well as conservation planning, statutory planning and training specialist to review the planning and development practices in Hanoi. The project designed a new development management system for Hanoi City, local structure plans and development control manuals for the Ancient Quarter, French Quarter and other urban areas as well as a development approvals computer package to track applications through the approval system. The team worked closely with national and provincial government agencies as well as organising study tours to Australia and organising an extensive technology procurement program.
