project: elm grove kew east

description of project
This unique development provides substantially more than a conventional dual occupancy proposal. Through the skills of Artima Design Architects, two residential units are proposed to the rear of two prominent 3 storey dwellings. Each new dwelling has been designed using environmentally sustainable principles such as thermal slab flooring, provision of rainwater tanks to aid water reuse and recycling, extensive north facing curtain windows to provide passive heat absorption and timber south elevations which minimise south facing glazing. Each of the open space areas are of generous in size, aided by a northern orientation and permeable surface coverage. Both dwellings follow contemporary design. Whilst 2 storeys, each interface to adjoining neighbours is highly articulated and comprises variable setbacks to allow spacing and the provision for planting.

This proposal is greatly justified and underpinned by environmentally sustainable design principles. These principles have been very well received by Council.
