description of project
Strategically positioned on one of Melbourne´s main boulevards the site is within easy walking distance of the University of Melbourne, the Royal Women´s Hospital, Lygon Street activity centre and the CBD. The project involved gaining planning permit approval for a nine storey residential apartment building (85 apartments) with ground floor retail uses and basement plus above ground carparking. This L shaped site was formerly occupied by two storey terraces with rear additions which were demolished to accommodate a high quality, architect designed apartment building with views to Melbourne´s CBD, North and West Melbourne, Parkville, Carlton and The Dandenongs. The development approval process included close liaison with Melbourne City Council, preparation of a detailed planning report accompanying the application and expert witness appearance at VCAT in response to a neighbour´s appeal which was subsequently dismissed and a permit was issued.
